RoadtoArizona | The Summary
The Road to Arizona was a long but fun trip. The road trip started from my home in Bridgeport, Connecticut and took me to my new home 2500 miles away in Tempe, AZ. It was a drive that took me 5 days to complete and brought me through many states. Also along the way I saw some interesting and at times freaky roadside attractions. The trip started around noon time on October 15th.
Day 1 took me through the states of CT, NY, NJ and into PA. Pennsylvania would be the most boring state to drive through on the trip. I had decided to drive into Pittsburgh for the night and I kind of got lost for a little bit. But thankfully I had my trusty laptop by my side and found some free wifi. I stopped for the night in Banksville at a motel.
Day 2 started off with me getting lost trying to get out of Pittsburgh. I would go through 5 states and go about 600 miles. Day 2 would be the day of the tunnel. I wish I had kept track of how many tunnels I went through. It seemed like 7 or 8. Also on day 2 I would have my 1st problem with the car. For some reason the the gas gauge stopped working and was showing I my tank was empty. I stopped the night in the outskirts of St. Louis.
Day 3 would be an eventful day. I went through my 1st tornado warning. I also made a stop in Oklahoma at a McDonalds that stretches across the entire highway. I would stop for the night in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Day 4 would start off in Elk City, OK and finished a few miles from the Arizona border in Gallup, NM. Drove about 530 miles. I was trying hard to make it into Arizona but found a very cheap motel in Gallup so I jumped at the chance to save a little cash. The entire day was spent on I-40W. A few of the stops along the way were one giant cross in the middle of nowhere. Also I visited the Cadillac Ranch in Texas which was a very interesting thing to see.
Day 5 would be the best day of the trip. From Gallup, NM to Flagstaff, AZ there are some great roadside attractions. I stood on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, found a giant tee pee and also went to this freaky rock shop that sold meteorites and had dinosaurs all over the place. It is was a great day and of course ended with me getting to Tempe, AZ and my new apartment.
